On Thursday 10 April, more than 100 professionals from across health, care, research, and academia joined a live webinar to celebrate the launch of the North West London Evaluation Toolkit — a new, online resource designed to help health and care staff plan, deliver, and learn from evaluation in a consistent, impactful way.
Hosted by the North West London Evaluation Consortium, the launch event brought together voices from across the system, including NHS Trusts, the NW London Integrated Care Board (ICB), and academic institutions. Attendees were given a live demonstration of the toolkit, heard about a compelling real-world case study, and had the chance to join a Q&A.
A Tool Designed for the System, by the System
The Evaluation Toolkit was developed collaboratively by partners across North West London, including founding members Imperial College Health Partners, the NW London ICB, Imperial College Healthcare Trust, NIHR ARC NWL, Brunel University London, Imperial College London and Third Sector Together NWL. The toolkit provides:
- A standardised four-step approach to evaluation
- Practical tools, templates, and guidance
- Case studies grounded in real-world learning
- Signposting to expert support, including a new Evaluation Surgeries offer
The goal? To build evaluation capability across the region, improve the quality of evidence used in decision-making, and ultimately, ensure better outcomes for patients and communities.
When surveyed, 100% of attendees said they were “likely” or “extremely likely” to use the Toolkit and 92% said they were “likely” or “extremely likely” to recommend or share the website. Attendees praised the toolkit’s credibility, user-friendliness, and real-world relevance.
Highlight: Case Study on Paediatric Oral Health
The webinar included a deep dive into an evaluation of a paediatric oral health promotion programme at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, supported by NIHR ARC NWL. Delivered using a targeted universalism approach, the programme addressed inequalities in child oral health and demonstrated how robust evaluation can influence real-time service design and funding decisions.
