Imperial College Health Partners shortlisted for 2019 HSJ Awards

Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP) are delighted to announce that the ‘Suspicion of Sepsis (SOS) Insights Dashboard’ tool  has been shortlisted for two 2019 HSJ awards in ‘Acute Sector Innovation of the Year’ and ‘Driving Efficiency Through Technology’ recognising their outstanding contribution to healthcare.

The judging panel, made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, have shortlisted ICHP despite the tough competition from hundreds of excellent applicants. ICHP have been selected based on their ambition, visionary spirit and the demonstrable positive impact that their project has on patient and staff experiences within the health sector.

The SOS Dashboard enables NHS staff – for the first time ever – to use reliable data to monitor and assess the long-term impacts of interventions on deteriorating patients with SOS over time. It focuses on measurement of interventions, which help local teams determine which methods work best over time, and which may need to be spread more widely across a region or nationally. It will ultimately help to better plan and prepare local services potentially saving lives across the country.

Since the tool’s creation last year the Dashboard has continued to go from strength to strength with growing adoption and spread across the entire country,  national endorsement from Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and included in the NHS Long term plan announcement for Sepsis. Earlier in 2019 it also won an HSJ Patient Safety Award 2019 for ‘Best Emerging Solution for Patient Safety’.

Kenny Ajayi, ICHP’s Patient Safety Programme Director, said: “I am delighted that our continued hard work and collaborations have been recognised on such a prestigious platform. We are committed to delivering improved outcomes for our patients, and to be chosen among the other incredible nominees is a wonderful achievement. The Dashboard has huge potential to help reduce harm and already enables clinicians to track the impact of their interventions in order to deliver safer care. This nomination offers a tremendous boost to our aspirations to continue building on this work in the long term by developing the Dashboard to support clinicians to better recognise and diagnose Sepsis.”

HSJ editor Alistair Mclellan, comments “We would like to congratulate ICHP on being nominated in both the categories of ‘Acute Sector Innovation of the Year’ and ‘Driving Efficiency Through Technology’ ahead of this year’s 2019 HSJ awards. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the ceremony in November, to join us in recognising the very best achievements and innovations in the healthcare sector. The entrants this year have been of incredible calibre, and each of the finalists in this category have been chosen based on their outstanding commitment to excellence in healthcare.”
