Biography

Mark joined IBM as Chief Health Officer initially for Europe, Middle East and Africa in 2018 and took up the global role in 2022. He has over 20 years’ experience as an NHS General Practitioner in the NHS. He has a long-standing interest in informatics, health policy and system redesign and this has led him to work nationally for 15 years in a number of clinical leadership roles at the Department of Health, Cabinet Office and as executive medical director of the NHS Digital. He has worked in digital health industry for the last 15 years in a variety of leadership roles. He chaired the health analytics committee within the industry group TechUK. He has chaired several clinical advisory boards for AI companies and was a previous non-executive director and deputy chair of the British Medical Journal. In 2003 he founded one of the largest urgent care social enterprise providers in the UK – Local Care Direct, which developed an early model of integrated urgent care.

I am thrilled to join Imperial College Healthcare Partners as a non executive director, there is a timely opportunity to demonstrate how innovation can deliver measurable improvements in both population health and economic growth and the work of ICHP has been at the centre of this. I look forward to contributing.
