Research Project GP Clinical Lead – Networked Data Lab

In this brief (2-day equivalent) but impactful advisory role, you will work closely with our team at ICHP as well our partners Imperial College and The Health Foundation to shape the design of our data collection and analysis on housing conditions, health characteristics and outcomes in North West London. 

Housing and Health is the sixth topic to be explored by the Networked Data Lab. Previous topics and reports can be found here. Housing and health was a topic raised by both national and local stakeholders as an important area for new linked data analysis and one that is keenly affected by the cost of living crisis affecting many NW London residents. The analysis is likely to focus on areas selected in consultation with local stakeholders: damp & mould and fuel poverty. We will be aiming to understand the demographics and health characteristics of NW London residents living with damp & mould or in fuel poverty, its impact on their healthcare usage, costs, and health outcomes. 

 

Skills and Experience

  • A fully qualified GP employed by a NW London GP practice who care for patients whose health may be impacted by poor housing conditions 
  • Experience of using patient data to support quality improvement or system change  
  • Someone motivated to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team across different sectors  
  • Interest in health inequalities and using data to support population health management 
  • Desirable: Some familiarity with statistical cohort studies using patient data  

 

The Role

As a Clinical Lead you will undertake 2 days of work advising the NDL project at four main points: 

  • Topic 6 Statistical Analysis Plan (up to 4 hours during March-April 2025)  
    • Support data scientists to identify appropriate outcomes for cohorts 
    • Support data scientists to stratify patients within cohorts  
    • Shape plan for causal analysis of data 
  • Review of initial data analysis results (up to 4 hours during July-August 2025) 
    • Provide feedback on casual and descriptive analysis conducted by data scientists 
    • Provide clinical context and health system insight to help contextualise initial results 
  • System and stakeholder engagement event 
    • Support NDL team to plan and chair a Networked Data Lab Housing and Health system engagement event (up to 4 hours in Sept 2025) 
  • Review of final draft report (up to 4 hours, September-October 2025)  

There may be an opportunity for a slight extension of role to be involved in dissemination activities for the analysis, to be confirmed.
