New ICHP Patient Safety Programme approved!

We have recently refreshed our Patient Safety Programme for North West London, which now focuses on three strategic themes that meet both national NHS Improvement priorities and also our local partners’ interests. These are:

  • Deteriorating patients and sepsis
  • Culture change
  • Maternity and Neonatal

The programme will run throughout 2018, with some initiatives running into 2019. Also, in response to the fast paced context in which ICHP partners operate, a certain share of programme resources (not shown on our plan) will be allocated to demand-led partner initiatives. This will be in the form of light touch partner support on an ad-hoc basis, supporting small scale or short-term projects. Partners are invited to contact kenny.ajayi@imperialcollegehealthpartners.com for further information.

About our patient safety programme

Our patient safety programme is part of the national Patient Safety Collaborative (PSC) programme, which aims to support and encourage a culture of safety, continuous learning and improvement across the health and care system, helping to reduce the risk of harm and make care safer for all. The PSC is a joint initiative between NHS Improvement and the AHSN Network. The programme, which was set up in 2013, is funded and nationally coordinated by NHS Improvement, and organised and delivered locally by regional Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs).

The North West London patient safety collaborative (hosted by ICHP) works with health organisations including Clinical Commissioning Groups, acute trusts, mental health trusts and primary and secondary care providers across North West London, and provides a range of support to improve patient safety across the whole system.
