The awards celebrate the vital role robust analytics play in identifying opportunities to support change and innovation within the health sector.
Just three teams are shortlisted for the Team of the Year award, which looks at how excellent engagement with clinicians has led to demonstrable improvement in service.
For the ICHP Business Intelligence team, collaboration is at the heart of all projects. Through creating a culture of engagement and sharing excellence, tangible impacts have been delivered in healthcare for patients in North West London. In many cases this work has forged the way for improvements across the system at a national scale.
The nomination for the award detailed their work in coming together to improve treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF), evaluation of a new care pathway which provides pregnant women with a named midwife or midwifery team, and quantitative and qualitative analysis of the impact of three digital behaviour change programmes on patients with Type 2 diabetes.
These projects involved working closely with clinicians and decision-makers to truly understand what needed to be explored so that the right kind of intelligence could be provided to help improve or confirm the quality of care.
In the case of the work to improve treatment of AF, there has been a direct impact on patient health and wellbeing in addition to an estimated £24,000 saving per patient for the NHS by avoiding AF-related strokes.

The award winners will be announced on the second day of the AphA annual conference to be held in Manchester from 25 to 26 September.
