Shakti Dookeran joined Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP) in March 2108 as an Innovation Delivery Lead.
Prior to joining ICHP, Shakti worked at Public Health England (PHE) as a Population Health Service Manager and led a national atrial fibrillation-related stroke prevention programme which resulted in the prevention of 3200 strokes and an estimated £72 million in savings across the health and care sector. This programme was delivered through robust partnerships and in this role Shakti used her leadership and system transformation skills to strengthen collective and outcome-focused action across the NHS, local government, industry and voluntary sector which helped to secure national prioritisation and funding to sustain programme delivery.
Before PHE, Shakti worked as a Public Health Strategist in the borough of Tower Hamlets where she improved access and uptake of a range of prevention focused health and wellbeing initiatives in the community, primary and secondary care.
Shakti’s passion to improve population health coupled with sector expertise and qualifications in public health, health policy and medical technology are key enablers that inform her approach to change and improvement across the healthcare system.
