A Pharmacologist by background, Professor Julia Buckingham has been Vice-Chancellor and President of Brunel University London since 2012. Prior to this she was at Imperial College London where she held a number roles including Pro-Rector for Education and Academic Affairs, College Dean for non-clinical Medicine, Head of the Department of Neuroscience and Mental Health and Head of the Centre for Integrative Mammalian Physiology and Pharmacology.

Her former roles include President of the British Pharmacological Society, President of the Society for Endocrinology, Editor of the Journal of Neuroendocrinology and Chairman of BioScientifca Ltd. She is currently Chairman of SCORE, Chairman of the Northern Ireland Healthcare Doctoral Training Panel, a Trustee of the Royal Institution, a founder Trustee of the Society of Biology and a Board Member of Universities UK.
